Double Bass Equalizer for an underwood?

Hi!
I´m searching for a cheap, but OK EQ for my underwood.

The thing is that I have a DPA4099 (that I really like) which I use in my GK (old one) by a Headway Preamp.
Due to feedback-problems when turning up the volume it´s hard to get enough volume (especially attack and lower bass)

So I use to blend the DPA with my Underwood, but then the mid-range sound from the Underwood (which I don´t like) takes over.
The problem is that the EQ on the Headway isn´t separable.

So I wonder if anyone got a tip for a cheap EQ that might work for this purpose or if it is better to buy a new mic?

Some of the time I use a DPA and an Underwood together. I say some of the time because the whole business involves a lot of leads and outboard gear and, frankly, I can't be arsed and generally just prefer to get on and enjoy the gig.

I can just get by with a Headway to power up the DPA and eq its signal before going into a powered speaker. The Underwood goes into the second channel of the Headway but as you have found if you are going to minutely control the DPA you are left with no independant eq for the Underwood and the volume control ratio is all wrong. However if you regard the DPA as the prime signal and use a bit of Underwood to tighten up the sound it doesn't really matter if the Underwood tone is a bit tinny.

To address your question, the perennial favourite preamp for the Underwood - or most other piezo pickups - is the Fishman Platinum Pro eq. I have used its cheaper simpler cousin, the Pro eq for many years. Both will give you full eq on the Underwood together with a more usable volume control.

Stick with your DPA and Underwood and you'll get a nice sound.

The GK's input impedance is set at 1 meg ohm, and I've always found that the Underwood sounds a little better at 10 meg ohm, so as an alternative you might try raising the input impedance on the EDB-1 to 5 or even the 20 meg ohm setting to see it that smoothes the pickup out a little. I'd also try running
the Headway EDB-1 into the effects return bypassing the entire EQ section of the 200MB and see how that sounds to you. Since the Headway is a full pre amp you can change the input impedance, reverse the phase, use the three position low cut switch and notch filter. There isn't any way to get two channels of EQ with the EDB-1
but it's the best pre amp I've ever heard, with the exception of a Walter Woods Amplifier. I always run the DPA 4099B directly to the mains and use my pickup for the amp. I don't think you will find a better mic or pre amp then the combination you already have.
