Hello TB! I am dropping this price for the final time. $2500 for a sale, but I'd like to keep the value around $3k-3500 for trades. Thank you! This is an amazing instrument!
Hello my friends, this is a tough one to write. Something about letting a custom bass go is hard! You dream about it for so long while it's being built that you almost stubbornly don't want to admit that you've grown in a different direction as a player. But here it is, and I am so proud to have dreamed up this beast!
This was built for me by Equilibrium Guitars in Boston, MA. Check out their site if you aren't familar! Home | Equilibrium Guitars - Their builds are amazingly precise, thoughtful, balanced weapons of tone!!!
Some specs:
- 33" scale, 22 frets
- 1 5/8" at the nut
- 7lb, 11.1oz
- Black Korina body wings
- Roasted Maple neck with Wenge stripes
- Flamed Redwood top, specifically chosen and "3D dyed" to look like a Tiger
- Roasted Maple Fingerboard with black binding and Richlite Block Inlays
- Green Luminlay side dots
- Stainless Steel Jumbo Frets
- Hipshot Ultra Lite tuners with Drop D Xtender
- Hipshot A-Style Bridge (bridge or string-thru)
- Triple Delano JSBC pickups
- ACG EQ-02 Filter-Based Preamp
- Dunlop Strap Locks
This bass is mean, modern, but can also be super huge and warm sounding. The Delano pickups are extremely precise, and combined with the ACG preamp it's magic. The possibilities are really endless, and it can bring the juice out of any of the multitude of pickup combinations.
The controls are: Master Volume, Low Filter Resonance/Cutoff Stack, High Filter Resonance/Cutoff Stack. There are 3 switches to turn each of the pickups on/off.
The neck pickup sounds huge. Neck and bridge will give you the meanest Jazz Bass sound you've ever heard. I actually had the pickup positions of the neck and bridge matched to an Alembic Orion. The Bridge and middle together will give you perfect Warwick Thumb tone, but without the neck dive ; )
I can't say enough about how well-built this instrument is. It intonates flawlessly, and plays like a dream. The main reason I'm letting it go is because I am truly at home on a Fender-Shaped Object. This thing should be getting played!!!
I paid about $5500 to have this bass built for me. It has a bit of honest wear from its time with me, and I am starting it off at $4000 shipped (now $2500) for my friends on Talkbass. It would be nice to sell, but because it is one-of-a-kind I am definitely interested in trade offers as well. I like P and J basses ; )
Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to hearing from the new owner of this incredible instrument!
