Well, if it plays anything like my LTD F 405-FM then I say why wait? go buy that thing! I love my bass, love the way it looks!
It rarely goes out of tune, the setup was fantastic when I got it (I had to order it, it was a bit of a risk but SO worth it), the pickups have great tone, especially in the neck.
There are bound to be differences in woods used between that model an mine, so I'm not sure how similar they'd sound...But in my experience all ESPs sound pretty damn awesome. possibly not as good as they COULD sound for the price, but that's what you get for buying something with a well known brand name on it I guess...
And as for the jagged edge design, I love it! But I'm really not a fan of that standard fender p/j design. Honestly I can't play boring/normal looking basses, I play so much better on something which I think looks, in my opinion, cool.
Oh, and one more thing! This bass is REALLY comfy to sit with. I thought that it might feel a little weird given the design, but it really works! It's balanced really well when standing up, it always stays where I put it (Unless I put it too horizontally, it always seems to strive to get that perfect 45-60 degree angle).
one more thing (I'll finish this post eventually...), if the bass is good enough for Ted Lundström (Amon Amarth, I know he's not the best bassist in the world, but they're a well known band, he can afford the good stuff!), then I'm sure it's good for any metal bassist.
