Ethics question.

$3 at an oil shop? Yelling, screaming, etc.?

I like you skel...but I'd like to see that enthusiasm when our elected officials break the law instead of taking frustrations out on the oil guy....

cheers

Yea, I messed up. I hate when I do that. I don't know why I can't just think fast enough to know that $3.00 bucks is nothing. Also the sales tax is SO outrageous, so I guess that got me at the same time. The total being $8 or $9 bucks over the advertised price. But I NEVER feel good after something like that - always terrible because it's really out of character for me not to just be a nice guy about pretty much anything.

btw - I DID stop the other day and ask a lady if she needed help - her car was sitting in the middle of the street. And she wasn't hot or anything. I always ask stranded women if they need help.

I get it, it's not about the $3 it's about the principal. As you probably see here the vast majority will just pay it and move on. That's what the company is counting on. You get used to buying something and having to pay a little extra for sales tax so they hope it's the same thing. Tires also have a bunch of extra fees (mounting & balancing, disposal) but most shops will usually give you an "out the door" price including all this.

I do my own oil changes with an [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. I can get a few more ounces out with this than putting it on ramps and letting it drain, plus I hardly even get my hands dirty. My oil goes to a guy with one of those oil furnaces too - he likes the synthetic stuff because it burns hotter. My change interval is 10,000 miles but that's not true of all cars and synthetic oils.

Yeah I hear ya...and cheers on helping people. That's good.

But where are you on helping animals? Would you help this cat?
