Double Bass EUB stand? strap?

hi,
i have a Gold Tone "club bass" EUB that i'm having trouble playing and supporting. when i lean the bass against me, it has a way of swinging out, making it difficult to play. i'm not sure if i am supposed to play it seated or if there's a secret art involved.
i just received this bass as a gift, and i'm trying to work with it as best i can.
i'm wondering if there's a kickstand or something, or strap that makes playing it less difficult? is there such a place to make one?

I have a Palatino VE500 and I'm getting a cymbal stand that will hook up to the back...maybe something like that will work for you?

I thought the Gold Tone had a T foot? I would have thought that would keep it in place for you.
