There's been talk around the 'net about this. All of the XP series essentially used identical hardware, but each had their own unique EPROM. Some guys have copied EPROMs from the various pedals and either switched them out manually or put in the rotary switch like you see in this one. This is definitely an aftermarket mod, and not an original Digitech product. Eur300 is a bit steep when you have no idea about the quality of the guy's work.

You can have your space station modded into an XP1000 by the guy who makes them. You can find him at the guitargeek message board.

Other than that, all I have to say about the XP1000 is: Me wanty!

I was going to get it done to my Space Station but realised that the XP-100 wasn't really great with bass and apparently the XP200 and 400 arn't very good.

What would bug me is the need to turn the unit off and on again every time I wanted to change presets.

I would think you only need to cycle power when changing between modes, say from XP-100 to XP-300, not when changing between presets within the same mode.
