Ever taken a bass for granted?

I bought my LTD B-4E shortly after (two days, perhaps) I picked up a used Squier Affinity series P bass. I began playing the Squier a lot because of the modifications I was making. They were mostly cosmetic, but the I loved the pickups and strings. It wasn't until I took that in for a setup that I realized how great my LTD truly is. I absolutely love that instrument. I will definitely put the B-5 or D-5 at the top of my list for five string options. I'd love the B-5 to match my B-4 (beautiful), but the D-5 is cheaper and also looks great. It'll be hard to choose when I decided to get a five string electric (my heart is set on an SX Jazz or Jag copy right now, given my budget).

From that experience, I also renewed my love in the stock LTD strings (which got put on my Ibanez GSR200, making it feel completely new and fresh) and the Elixirs. I don't think I can use any coated strings, unless they're Elixirs.

I was playing a Fender Geddy J ever since I fell in love with Rush, and I had put down my previous bass for it, a Yamaha BBG5S. A year later, I recently get my Yamaha back into my possession, and I wonder why I ever put it down. I may switch back to it.

Ever realize that you had an awesome bass all along, but switched for something else? Even if the original was cheaper or more banged up?

After 40 basses, tens of thousands of dollars, yes. G.A.S. keeps the economy going ans well as a good stable of quality used basses.

I am having a hard time finding a bass I like better than my BB605. I have yet to use any Yamaha product I didn't like or wasn't of superior quality.

My DeArmond Pilot 5 is the one I could kick myself for getting rid of......I really like the Yamaha BB300 (1986 model) that I have now, but I miss that wide,flat 5 string neck sometimes.

Got a Warwick $$ Corvette a while ago and loved it, and one day much later I picked up my Ibanez starter pack bass and realized that it's super light compare to my Warwick. I was shocked again when I picked up another guy's Fender Jazz standard and even that was like a feather by comparison.

None-the-less, I still love my Warwick, but I appreciate my other bass a little more now. Especially after the battery in my Warwick died for the first time a month ago >:/

Probably my old Yamaha RBX 760. It was lightweight and had a comfortable neck. It went to help fund my Geddy purchase.

Sold my first bass, a Peavey Milestone III, when I needed some cash. Figured I wouldn't miss it...but I do. It would have been an amazing backup bass / alternate tuning bass. Had a GREAT jazz tone, but I wasn't gigging at the time. Big ooops.

Alvarez Villain 5 string..had a red one back in the 90's and loved everything about it...the neck was amazing, sweet B string, even the EMG Select pickups. I traded it off for something...who knows....anyways, I missed it bad....and a few years ago I found a black one on Ebay for $100...all is well now
