Evicted

It's amazing how many think that.

This tenant was trying to hit me up to convert them to natural gas (it has propane fired hot water base board heat already while I am stuck living in a place with 100% electric heat!) and pave the driveway the last time they were this far behind  I'm eating ramens while trying to keep on top of my bills because they can't be bothered paying me... and they want me to pave and convert their heat :eyebrow:

The wife is ready to get quotes to join the houses into one... there is about 14 feet between them (it's a corner lot).

The market has changed enough that I can charge for my much smaller 2 bedroom place what I charge for the other now... I'll be moving into the bigger house once they are gone. :D I'll be gaining a dedicated music room AND a man cave (master bedroom is converted from the back 3/4s of a one car garage... the front 1/4 of the garage is now a perfect shed / workshop for my tube amp building) as well as about a 75% drop in utilities (electric heat is killing me!)

What a bunch of low lives. I have always worked my tail off to pay rent on time. Is is possible to have something written into the lease about late payment being a cause for immediate eviction?

you can't here but it's implied in the lease that rents are due,and penalties are allowed.....trouble is in manitoba rents are controlled, damage deposits are limited to half the rent, and the dispute machinery heavily favors tenants.....try and collect for damages, skipped water accounts, back rents and late fees with a four hundred dollar damage deposit

if a tenant skips you usually write it off as they generally have nothing for you to recover, and the damage deposits will barely cover the cleaning ,let alone any damage.....but it's interesting that so many of them had lots of disposable income for dining out, cars, beer, gambling, trips etc.,while being months behind in rent....

40 plus years of true-dough(canook reference)style social engineering has created an entire culture of live/spend for today because the government will provide, and those who work to pay for it all are made to feel that they should thank the gods that they have jobs to pay for all those who live like there is no tomorrow.....

I live like there is no tomorrow, but I work my tail off for today.

that's fine for now but don't wait too long..... being in some job you hate as a young guy doesn't get any better when you are 45 and still doing it,with retirement looming and diminishing options on the horizon .....

I might have worded that wrong. I live like there is no tomorrow, but I do plan for the future. Crappy jobs are crappy jobs period and that is exactly why I went back to school. I definitely don't spend my money like there is no tomorrow.
