Expecting G&L Tribute

Beautiful bass. It's as good in passive as it is in active...maybe better. Mine is natural and rosewood. Comfortable and well balanced to play, more tones than I can reasonably expect to use (fairly new player.) Hard to give tidbits without knowing how much you already know about it.

Go check out Ed Friedland's review on youtube. Killer!

That is a beautiful bass. Like mine except mine is blue burst. Yours looks black in the photo.

You are gonna love that bass. They are selling for 700 bucks new these days.

Very good quality bass. Solid piece of swamp ash, maple neck, USA electronics, nice finish, shiny nickle plated bridge, unlimited tonal options, has a nice modern vibe to it. It really growls too.

Soon I'm getting a Fender Jazz(USA) and I'll never want of another bass. I'll have my G&L and my Fender Jazz. I'll play them for years to come.

Congrats!!!

Oh boy. First tip, check out the G&L forum on talkbass.

You can raise your pick-ups, and adjust each pole piece to get an even sound. Before ordering strings make sure they're long enough to string through the body. Some quick settings - classic rock: neck pickup, passive - jazz: bridge pickup, passive - modern rock: both pickups, active - reggae: neck, passive, series, cut the treble.

Oh and let the package acclimate for 24 hours before opening. Good luck ;)

I think that L2000 tribute have through bridge only option. But I maybe wrong.

Although not necessarily a bad thing depending on your tastes and please correct me if I'm mistaken but I've heard that the solid colored tributes have basswood bodies which would make them sound quite different then the natural ash or sunburst ones.
That said, it may not necessarily be a bad thing. The ONLY complaints I've ever heard about the l2000's was that they have a lot of mid/high's but the lowend is slightly lacking comparatively. So basswood may turn the tables to change that dynamic(while also reducing weight).

Mine is Ash and is not lacking of any low end. It's got a low ballsy growl....very modern sounding. This thing can thump down low my brothers!!
