OK. I have been struggling with this for a few weeks, but here it is...

Here is my 2009 Modulus Q5 in MINT condition! I bought this recently from gentleman here on TB. It came to me in immaculate condition and has never left my house. The bass has a GREAT feel to it and TONE options for days!

I am selling this because the gig I needed a 5 string for is over and I am looking for a four string.

Here are the specs
2009 Q5
Quilt Maple top with Amber Finish
Graphite neck WITH Chechen Fretboard
35" scale
24 fret
Nordstrand DC5 pickups
Nordstrand 3B-4a Pre V/V stack, Passive tone (push/pull active/passive) Mid (pull freq selector, Treble/Bass stack
weighs 9.5 LBS

This is one of the most versatile pre/pickup combo's I have EVER had!! The passive tone control is amazing and gives you an amazing assortment of tones in either active or passive mode!
**the bass was shipped to Nordstrand and they installed the pickups and the pre!! The back cavity is as clean as can be!**

This is a GREAT bass in MINT Condition!

Comes with OHSC in mint condition as well!

I am asking [DEL]$2000[/DEL] $1975 OBO shipped CONUS

***The only trades I am interested in is a SPECTOR FORTE 4 or NS-2 of equal value, but I'd prefer a cash deal!***

...and now for the pics!

...and the price starts to drop! I am motivated to sell so make me a reasonable offer!

I will also throw in a barely used Brown and Black padded Levy's strap ($60) and I have already applied mink oil to it to make it extra soft!!!

Wow, that is really beautiful. Are the electonics factory upgrades or after market?

Do you have the original factory electronics ( assuming these are not original from modulus as they use emg or barts )

I am fairly certain they are aftermarket electronics. I believe I am the 3rd owner of this beast and when I bought it from Dr. Z, He made it sound like the original owner bought the bass, had it shipped to Nordstrand where they installed everything and then shipped it to him.

I know that they were installed at Nordstrand. I do not have the original electronics.

I will try to contact the original owner and get a definite answer.

Thanks for looking, it truly is a stunning bass in person!!

I sold this bass to Brad, it came to me set up with Nordstrand Electronics - I don't know the exact story/history, and I did call Nordstrand about this bass - they told me it was sent to them for pre-amp and pups, and was in their shop for a while, I didn't ask if it had previously been equipped or not. There is no evidence I.e. extra holes, glue, or any marks anywhere - it looks like a "factory job".

This bass is truly a fine instrument having the ability to adjust for a wide variety of tone,

Action is VERY low, superb playability - and Chechen Fretboard.... It was a hard decision to let it go - this bass will not disappoint!!!

Thanks for the knowledge and kind words Bruce!

I PM'd the gentleman who owned it before Bruce, and he said that I am the 4th owner of this bass and the original owner sent it to Nordstrand where Carey installed the pups and pre. As you can see in the pictures, it looks as clean as any "from the factory" electronics cavity that I have seen! ...and it sounds even better!

Hope this helps everyone!

If this had the Bart pickups and pre I'd be all over this. Not a fan of the Nord pups at all. Good luck with the sell though!

I like the clarity of the pre, but it is just a bit too tame in comparison to the OBP-3 that I'm used to. There are some great tonal options that can dial in just about any sound you need! The passive control (while in active mode) is by far the coolest feature!

I have an OBP-3 coming to me for another project, I might throw it in here first to see if that entices me to keep it! :bassist:

I have a deal in the works to swap out electronics (Barts and OBP-3) from another Q5.

The swap will probably happen next week. I am taking this off the market until that is done. If that switch doesn't make me want to keep this bass, I will start a new thread.

Thanks for all of the positive comments! Hopefully the new guts will bring new inspiration!
