Factory string gauge on a Fender Jazz bass

I'm googling, but all the info that I find say the string gauge is a choice and it's up to whatever the bass player wants. That's all well and good, but I am specifically searching for the string gauge that Fender ships from the factory. My caliper only has 2 digits of precision so I don't know if mine has .045 or .040. Does anyone know the string gauge that fender ships from the factory on their Fender jazz basses?

I don't know if scale length matters but mine is long scale (35 inches from bridge to nut)

They usually post the gauges on the Fender site. The most common used as stock strings are their .045-.105 nickel plated strings.

Most Fenders come factory-equipped with Fender 7250M (nickel-plated steel roundwound, 45-65-85-105). The info is right there on the website under specs for each model.

"Scale length" of the bass = measurement from the nut to the 12th fret, then x2. Standard "long scale" = 34".

The specs section of the listing for every single Jazz bass on that site includes the exact set of strings fitted to that bass.

that’s what I thought but…. i bought a fender P mim player (2021 built) and I liked the strings that were on. So I bought a set of Fender 7250 to replace them when I need to. But to my surprise : the new set comes with colored little férules (d’addario like) and the original ones are gold.
so I wonder if they are the same….

Yes, they are the same strings. The Fender strings that are shipped to their factory in bulk to be used as the original strings on their basses do NOT have colored ball ends, while the same strings in retail packages do. No difference with the strings themselves otherwise.

Yes, they are not the same strings. It is believed (maybe even confirmed?) that D'Addario manufactures the Fender-brand strings, but they do so using Fender's design specifications. I've not really A-B compared the two stringsets, but at a high level, I think the D'Addarios sound a bit more mid-scooped, while the Fenders have a bit stronger mids. The D'Addarios may also be a bit more bright sounding overall.

Good timing , I just loaded both precut 7250M and EXL 165 on my pbass before sold. Buyer prefer EXL, but the pbass has fresh condition 7250m loaeded.

String surface are smoother on EXL.
7250m has slightly more tension.
Plucking feel more relax on EXL.
EXL has better intonation fine tune and bridge saddle has correct scale placement from E to G.

Sorry on above point less described.

EXL hass bigger bottom and stronger upper mid and brightness.
7250m has more in your face low mid and mid.
More output from EXL.

When play after 12th fret, 7250m has better tone clarity to my ears.

For me, I will go with NYXL or Dunlop SBN for higher level of fretting and plucking feel.
