Faital 15PR400 ecnlosure build/tuning, need help

Hallo TB,

I just bought two Faital 15PR400 speakers, found them dirty cheap on sale in local store an just couldn't resist. they are 4 ohm but I can exchange them for 8 ohm. My plan is to build two single/simple 15" cabs as I play in two bands. Unfortunately, I can not find any plans or projects build on these drivers.

Win ISD pro gives me 101l volume (~3.57 cu ft) and 35 Hz tuning frequency which seems pretty low.
I found some undocumented with 3 or less cu ft enclosures and ~44 Hz tuning, but mostly by 4 string bass players. I am a 5 string player, play mostly modern pop/disco/funk, and would like to have nice even bottom end/low mid response without "boomy" effect or farting on low power.

Could you please give me some recommendations for optimal enclosure volume and tuning frequency, regardless on size and weight?

Good luck with the build. I have a Greenboy Bassic 15 with this driver in it, 4 ohm, that I use with a GB Shuttle 6.2. The cab is a one hand carry, but I had two spring loaded handles put on just to make it more comfortable to carry. I use it in a small Blues band, and I dig it a lot for lower volume gigs.

Thanks Jnewark. Bassic looks like a very nice portable cab (just like all Greenboy cabs), but I'm not sure If I can get best of PR400 in less than a 3 cu.ft of volume. this is where I need some help as I don't mind bigger size.

You might try 2.8 cubic feet net internal volume, tuned to 48 Hz. Maybe go for 25% coverage of internal surfaces with 1" mattress topper foam. This should give you -2 dB at the 62 Hz first overtone of low-B. You might want to use multiple pluggable round ports in case you run into a boomy room.

This is by no means the only solution! So consider it to be just one point on a multi-dimensional continuum.

My FPPR400's are in 3.5 cf boxes tuned to about 45hz, and they sound really nice. The should Xmax out with about 225 watts a piece assuming no hi-pass filtering. 3.5 cf sounds big, but it's really pretty manageable, especially considering the light weight.

Please refer to the datasheet you find on our website. The one you found on Invalid Link Removed is an old version; thank you for noticing it..I’ll notify the distributor to update it as well!
