Faking a Piezo

Anyone have any ideas on effects to imitate a piezo style pickup?

I am particularly looking to imitate a 5 string ABG (EADGC) with bronze strings but using a 5 string LTD b205 with dual soapbars and D'Adario nickel strings. Obviously not looking for exact, but a similar vibe to play with a single clean acoustic guitar.

Any ideas or guidance appreciated.

Couldn't you mount a little generic piezo pickup in the control cavity?

Use the bridge pickup and play relatively close to the neck. You can probably get a more authentic sound if you have a good outboard EQ. You'll probably want to fatten up the lows and low mids.

I have never thought about that, would it actually work?

Pretty sure I have tried pressing my Underwood string bass pickup against the body of one of my electric basses and the signal was pretty much unusable...acoustic instruments vibrate a lot more than solid body instruments.

The piezos in my TRB6P work fairly well but they are mounted in the saddle pieces of the bridge.

I was thinking that the bridge swap would be the way to go, but by the time I factor in cost of adding a piezo, it is a big chunk of cash that can be put towards a bass that already has both.

I am sort of looking for a way to "fake" the sound until I do pull the trigger on something with a Piezo.
