Fall out boy following? (NOT a troll thread)

Story Time:

I know the dudes. I had an ex that was a free-lance photographer for Fueled by Ramen. She was really good friends with a band from Chicago called, Showoff. One of the bands they toured with in 2003 was a very young Fall Out Boy. I tagged along with her to a few shows and met the dudes.

Fall out Boy even stayed with us for Thanksgiving. They were all VERY nice... ESPECIALLY Pete. Given my mode of thought and life, at the time, i got along with Andy (the drummer) the best, as i'm vegan/straightedge as well... and i mean, common... homeboy played for Vegan Reich... THAT'S awesome!

I even got an advanced copy of 'From Under the Cork Tree' WAY before it was released.

Personally I've played in every sub-genre of punk and hardcore since the mid-90's, and these days... the poppier side of thigs have given me the most enjoyment. So i say, good for these dudes. They have pretty legit upbringings, and have been musicians forever. They deserve the glory as much as anyone.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, though. :bassist:

Cool story bro.... Honestly!:bassist:

And I'm not trying to detract from them as musicians, obviously they can all play. But it was a question about their fans. Posts like this (and most of the ones above it) answer my questions.

I don't listen to them to be musically enlightened, I listen when it comes on the radio because it's catchy and sounds good. I don't need any other reason.

Yeah, that pretty much describes it for me, as well. I picked up a FOB CD that I never listen to, but when they come on the radio I sing along! It's nice to hear catchy pop where the lyrics aren't mind-numbingly simple, too.

So I was under the impression that nobody liked FoB. I personally can't stand them, the vocals are awful, the musicianship sucks, don't like their image etc.

But I recently had a FB friend post something about them, and I jokingly made a negative comment about them, and then I had a couple people jump down my throat about it.

In ALL HONESTY (not trolling): I thought their audience was prepubescent girls, goth punk whatever, and a handful of guys. The kids that got on to me in no way shape or form fit that description.

So was it a coincidence or is their fanbase a lot larger and diverse than I had previously thought?

Please no "pete wentz sucks balls" comments.

I agree with your first 2 statements 100%!
