Fav way to record ideas

Hey,

How do you record your ideas using bass only with a favorite DAW.

I use cubase, Amp DI or preamp DI in my homestudio to create song ideas and grooves.
But recently started adding my pedalboard in the middle with different effects.

My biggest challenge now is to program drums using Ezdrummer 2. If I create a drum pattern first I find it a bit boring to jam to.

But if I create a bass groove first, I find it easier to make the drums after I find a bassline I like.

How is your way?

Oh, I play mostly doom, stoner, prog rock.

Cheers

I usually start with a guitar hook using Shreddage 3 VST, then I'll typically throw in some drum grooves, and add my bass last, even though I have usually originated the idea from randomly playing a line that I like the sound of.

I do it in this order as it allows me to tweak and adapt my bass line to mesh with guitars and drums in the best way.
