Favorite active DI?

The Sansamp has no compressor but the signal is surprisingly balanced, recording studios seem to like when I bring a BDDI with me. It's horrible for a live situation but it sits really well when you record through it.

The SansAmps have no compressor control knob, but the SansAmp circuitry does perform compression. At low settings, compression is about all the Drive knob does (that I can hear).

Tech21 guy said so in another thread. :)

My personal favorite.

Damn! ART has some pretty cool gear on their DISCONTINUED page. :(

Some people swear by it but some others, with me included, found that it sucks out your mids and just ruins everything.

However if you plan to use it through a PA without an amp, it might be a good solution.

Yeah I would definitely not want that happening.

One of my goals is to have a really flexible setup that can be used for a variety of situations.

I think a DI box with an XLR out for the PA plus 1/4" out for using my amp as a monitor would offer the most flexible option. I could also use the box if going with an IEM setup. If I was only using an amp, I could just skip the DI.

If I can find a Tube PAC, I think that's what I'll get. I really like what I've read about it, plus it looks like it would be just as useful in the studio as live.
