FWIW, I got the Schecter Diamond P Custom 5 in the mail yesterday. I can't believe how great this bass is for how little I paid for it. Clearly it's no Lull, not even a Lakland, but it's such a great bass. Really great feeling neck, smooth body, no flaws in the finish that I can see. It is a tad heavy, but I find that weight=sustain in most situations. There is some neck dive when seated, but it hangs well on a strap. It sounds pretty great live too. A really punchy tone. I only have a couple of complaints so far: 1) The tuners feel really stiff. Maybe that'll loosen up with time. 2) It's got a lot of attack but not much sustain. Fortunately I have a good compressor to smooth it out. But I think part of it might be the super hot pickups being too close to the strings and dragging on the strings. We'll see if I can lower the pickups and get some sustain out of it. It also might be a factor that the P pickup is mounted about 1/8" too far to the right. All of the strings ride just over the bass side pickup pole piece. I'm not smart enough to know if that actually has anything to do with the tone or not, though. I posted another question in the pickup forum to ask if that mattered, but haven't received a response yet. All in all, though, I'm really happy with it. I'm still debating whether to leave it as is or swap the pickups for better P/MM pickups or have it routed for thunderbird pickups. We'll see. Sorry, I forgot. Third complaint: the tone pot feels incredibly flimsy. Might have something to do with the fact that it is a push/pull coil split knob, but I'm afraid I'm going to snap it off every time I pull it.
