I like to use stainless Dr lo riders with any fretted bass. I mainly enjoy MM humbcker pups.
  3. Me, personally, I always use roundwounds of some kind, perferibbly DR. I like the sound. For most people the rule is when using fatter sounding pickups, like P bass or MM, your gonna get better slapping tone, so its best to use slapping strings, roundwounds. And when using the thinner sounding stuff, like Jazz and some soapbar pups that sound thinner, your gonna get a better sound from your fingers, or picking, so use flatwounds. I personally use the roundwounds because they feel better to me, and I get my desired tone. Really its about you trying several styles and brands with what you have. Everytime you need string changes, switch brands, maybe DR, then GHS, then Elixer, then Rotosounds, so on.
