Favorite position on a Precison Bass.

I wanna know in which position most of the players like to play. I variate a lot between 3-4 position when playing finger style and 1 when I'm play with a pick.

obviously just estimates but it gives me the sound i want.

Why limit yourself? All of them. 1 when I palm mute and pluck with thumb and forefinger. Any of them when I finger pick. 4 for Reggae or when I want a huge bottom end sound.

Generally I play #1 or #2, But as a rule it's usually #2. Unless I'm playing #1.

Seriously though I would say 2 most of the time with my thumb resting on the pickup. Occasionally 3 if I wanted a bit mellower tone.

I stay in 3 with thumb on the pick up, unless I am playing a Black Sabbath song, in which I must play in 4. I also find myself playing in the same area on my J bass and Charvel as well...
