Favorite rechargeable clip on tuner?

Snark (I love my battery unit) makes a rechargeable model but the reviews I've read say it's not as accurate as battery units, so that's a definite No for me. I'm very interested in this thread...rechargeable for these tuners would be awesome.

I don’t know - rechargeable tuners seem like a nice idea on the face of it, but if the charge gives out during a gig, you’re stuck with a dead tuner and no way to revive it. If it’s battery powered, you could just pop in a fresh battery and be good to go.

I think rechargeables make sense for power-hungry applications where you want to avoid buying new batteries all the time, but a clip-on tuner uses very little power, so the battery lasts a long time, and you can always carry insurance in the form of a spare button cell.

FWIW, I tried a D'Addario rechargeable (Equinoxx 360 or something like that), and I thought it was no dang good. It tuned OK, but the display wasn't great, and it would not hold a charge for anything. Not only did it not have much use life, but it lost charge fairly rapidly when not in use. Charge it fully one day, and if you don't pick it up in a week and a half, the charge is down in the danger zone. No thanks. I'd never depend on that thing for anything.

It's possible I got a lemon, but I don't think so. D'Addario didn't seem surprised when I complained. To their credit, they didn't argue with me or try to tell me I was using their gear wrong; they just gave me some Player's Credits for my troubles, which I promptly put toward a better (and battery-powered) tuner of theirs.

Maybe they'll come out with a better model someday, but until then, I'd suggest staying clear.

I don't know anything about other rechargeable clipon tuners, unfortunately.

Yikes. Thanks for the tip.

i’m looking for rechargeable clip on as well. I was looking at the new snark , D'Addario Nexxus 360. It looks like it could be improved version of the Equinox. What do you guys think? Anyone heard of it?

Also fender makes a great rechargeable. My Dad has one I tried it out and it was faster tracking than my silver snark and turned off automatically or went to slee mode after a set amount of time to save power. Great option. Tracked the low E on my bass just fine.

Just curious, what is the reason you are excluding typical battery powered tuners? Is it ecology?
Yes ecology, but also simplicity. Buying and replacing a battery is a minor inconvenience in life, but one that I'm fine cutting out. Even if the battery of a rechargeable tuner dies relatively quickly, I could always plug it in on the drive to a gig to get enough out of it for the gig rather than feeling confident that it's fine then discover I need to go buy a battery.

It's a real first world problem, but so are 98% of the threads up here.

Sorry, the Nexxus 360 was the one I had, mentioned above in post #9. I do not recommend it, but YMMV.

No, it's cool, I wasn't critisizing, just curious.

I just bought the tc unitune last night. Will give some feedback when it arrives. It’s not rechargeable. I was going to get the snark super tight rechargeable but decided against it for now. Any thoughts?
I have a couple of them, and I like them ... when they work. I say that because I got two defective ones from Sweetwater. Since getting past that little bump in the road, the two I own have worked great. They take the same 2032 battery that seemingly every other clipon tuner does, which is convenient.

Since the UniTunes cost a little more than the Snarks, at least IME, I tend to leave them home when I play a gig, usually taking a Snark instead (because I regard it as slightly more expendable). But it's not because the UniTunes aren't gigworthy; they are.
