Favorite Type of Metal

I voted Stoner Metal. I like a lot of different kinds of metal, but that is definitely my favourite. There was one time when I would have said Metalcore, but I think that genre has moved past it's prime, for sure.

im starting to get into, for lack of a better term, Operatic Metal.

Stuff like Nightwish, Diablo Swing Orchestra (maybe not metal) ect.

I suppose that bass players are not the primary target audience for ANY genre (not counting solo bass performances).

That being said, there are lots of good examples of quality bass playing in black metal, but seemingly (and sadly) even more examples of the opposite...

Melodic Death Metal is my main choice. I like someblack metal, lots of power metal, thrash metal, progressive metal, and folk metal. Cant stand numetal, glam-metal. I think most metalcore bands suck, but some are pretty good (yes, I do like trivium, even they're new stuff, despite being complete sellouts by jumping on a 'thrash revival', theyre new album is very solid).

I think Angel Witch is a pretty bad ass NWOBHM band... Candlemass falls into that category as well as Doom. I'm pretty sure Motorhead would as well qualify as NWOBHM, they're from the era... and the "B" part of NWOBHM.

As of late, Black Metal. The more mid-tempoed ambient type stuff. Some black metal is just death metal with bad production and raspier vocals. Plus, I think Satan is nifty.
