Double Bass Favourite 15" speaker

I've got a beat up Ampeg B100R. I have abused it for years on electric gigs.
The other day, I had to run straight from an electric gig to a rockabilly gig, so on a whim I rolled with the Ampeg. I really enjoyed the sound.
This amp has been used hard by myself, and I need to give it some love. I think I want to replace the speaker as it is blown out a bit.

Do you have favourite 15" speaker? I'm probably not going to be hauling this on a day to day basis for everyday gigs, so weight isn't necessarily an issue.

I went with the Faital 10” upgrade. It does require you build an adapter.
There’s a guy who wrote quite a bit about it a few years ago on the EB side.
I double with it using a Realist on a hybrid. One thing I’ve found really helpful with any non DB specific bass amp is an fdeck hpf.
Great combo amp for sure!

I don't have the Ampeg, but in a similar sized cabinet I use a Fairal 15PR400. Sounds great. Very lightweight, focused. Perfect for bass guitar but also surprisingly good for louder double bass gigs.

Thanks for this link, very interesting stuff. How are you enjoying the 10"? Over the years I feel like I've developed a taste for the tone that comes from 12 and 15's vs the 10" speakers. But maybe it's time to get freaky?

I have not done the conversion. My 15” still works fine.
