Favourite under the radar bassist

A few classic heavy metal bassists are much, much better and more present than the genre would suggest. I'm mostly thinking about Markus Grosskopf (Helloween), Peter Wagner (Rage), Magnus Rosen (ex-Hammerfall) or, in a slightly different genre, Felipe Andreoli (Angra).

My favorite bass player is Robert P Kearns. An unsung hero.
His playing with Cry Of Love was very melodic yet solid. Very much in the vein of Andy Fraser.
He also played with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bottle Rockets.
And for years has been a mainstay with Sheryl Crow. Not only playing bass but also keyboards, mandolin and guitar.
Amazing musician.

I'm late to the thread, but I've really been enjoying the band "Earthquake Lights" since I found out about them a couple years ago. The band is a weird niche -- is "cinematic" a category? -- but the songs feature the bass prominently. Many songs have orchestral accompaniment. Besides really melodic bass playing that drives the songs, James DiGirolamo doesn't get overly busy and has killer tone. If you restrict yourself to only "rock" then you are missing out on some great players:

Felipe is incredible. I adore Rebirth, Temple Of Shadows, and Aurora Consurgens. Ferocious speed and agility. Like a Koenigsegg. Or a Pagani.
