FCB1010 with Mobius

Hi, i'm having problems with my midi set up between the Mobius and the FCB1010. As I am very new to looping, it's been quite confusing trying to get my set ups to work but I am determined to get the hang of it. Is there a sysex file anywhere that I can dump to the FCB1010 for immediate set up with the mobius? Or can I get directions somehwere on how to do this?

I usually control Mobius as a plugin from Ableton Live. If you do this you want to have an Audio input to feed to Mobius (can be on a Return track / send) and most importantly a MIDI track which controls Mobius commands (remember to select "Monitor input" - Orange button - so that Mobius "hears" the input from the FCB). The MIDI track takes input from the FCB-1010 and sends it direct to Mobius, allowing you to control the various switches etc.

I used iFCB to set up the FCB to send MIDI note messages, critically without the program change message so that Mobius gets a clean MIDI note. This is fairly key whether you're using a host package like Live or not.

If using Mobius within Live you can set up Banks within the FCB to send signals to Mobius and other Banks to control Live e.g. Start / Stop / Trigger clips etc.

Examples of some stuff I've done in the past using this are on Myspace: Link Removed

i am having nothing but problems setting this up with mobius. what exactly do i program the fcb1010 to send to mobius? im using the same pc editor btw. do i send cc messages? if so, which ones? sorry to bring up this old thread. i need to get this workin!

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the FCB1010 sysex file, the Mobius XML file (MIDI control messages) and an Ableton Live set.

Sorry I can't post them here, the board doesn't allow these file types.

Wendy - if you get this all working, please do jump in and let us know. Especially if my files DON'T work!!

I've created a couple of Live sets (Live6) which work with Mobius. In both Mobius is on a return track so you can choose how much of the signal gets sent. Note that there is a MIDI track which takes input MIDI commands / notes and sends these to Mobius.

Mobius 8 track - takes a single input audio signal and sends it to Mobius. The 8 individual Mobius tracks / channels then send their signal back to Live. I've never really used this in anger, just set it up to see how far Mobius would go.

Mobius Basic again takes one single audio input, but I've set up Track 1 to send to Mobius and to an FX Channel with "Wet" FX which in turn are passed into Mobius. On a crossfade channel is the same input signal but sent to "Dry" FX channel which again is sent on to Mobius. Note that the "Dry" channel actually has a little compression and reverb on it. I set things up like this so that I could include radical FX on Return B and more subtle FX on return C. Crossfading via a MIDI expression pedal allowed me to change between the two seamlessly without having to click on the interface.

I've also got an XML file for my preferred control assignments in Mobius and a SYSEX file for the FCB1010 settings I use.

Hope this lot is useful in getting folks started in using Mobius in Live.

Most of my early music was done exclusively using Live and Mobius. Track MKSTrack1bcomp on my Last.fm webpage was recorded in one take.

ok. so i loaded up the file you had on that site into my fcb, but its sending the same thing on all channels. every channel has 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, on it. i opened mobius and clicked on midi capture, and every single pedal sends the same thing. what should i change each diff one 2? im confused. sorry.

Hi, sorry about any confusion. I've just checked what my FCB1010 is sending within Logic and although there may be PC#1 messages (patch change messages) = 1 you should also be getting MIDI note values. Have you tried interfacing with Mobius yet? If so, you might be able to see what MIDI notes / messages are being passed into Mobius. If you're getting all the same notes on each patch let me know and I'll try to dig a little deeper.

Apologies.
Mike

Sorry, to resurrect an old thread, but I'm in the same position as the original poster. I just got an FCB1010, and I'm attempting to sync it with Mobius. I have Mobius loaded in FL Studio as a VST and I see the MIDI indicator in FL Studio flashing when I press the pedals on the FCB1010. However it doesn't look like Mobius is capturing anything. I'm thinking the pedals are still set to trigger PC messages despite my numerous attempts to change them to trigger Note-on messages.

Unfortunately I only have 1 working MIDI cable at present, so transmitting and receiving sysex files from the homebrew FCB1010 editor is proving difficult. I tried doing it by rewiring the MIDI cable on the fly, and I saw the LEDs on the FCB1010 flickering as I transmitted the sysex, but it doesn't appear to have made a difference. Is there a "save" button or something that I'm missing in the FCB1010's config mode?

Any tips much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi guys, I am trying to manually program the FCB using iFCB, in order to send midi signals to Mobius. Can anyone help? the iFCB software interface is not very intuitive and I'm not so familiar with midi.. thanks!!
