Fearful 12/6/1-standard or cube, opinions?

Got the parts for a 12/6/1, got the wood, going to pick up new saw blade and start cutting but then Whoah! Which one do I make? Thought I knew but now suddenly unsure. Whadaya think?

I have a standard 12/6 and love it. The cube looks good if you are going to stack on top of a 15/6 but otherwise I think the taller form of the 12/6 has the advantage of getting the midrange speaker up higher and its easier to carry.

Some amps will overhang a "standard" 12/6. That didn't bother me in the least when I had a GK 1001RB, but it might bother some people.

I built a pair of cubes, but if I had to do it over again, I would go with the standard shape for exactly the reason zoolion mentioned.

I also think the standard is easier to carry.

Good luck with your build, mine are great sounding cabs and have been reliable work-horses for many years.

That's 3 for the tall 12/6/1/ so far I think. That was my original plan but started having last minute second thoughts. I guess I'll know when I start laying out the plywood later today or tomorrow. Got the D-800 Mesa to go on top, for now.

Very nice! How will you finish it?

Still have to put together crossover, handles speakons, wiring, damping, and haven't decided for sure on finish. Maybe all black paint (black ink and polycrylic) like previous speaker builds, maybe that roll on texture stuff, and maybe turn it into a painting: I'm a painter, so...we'll see. More pics-

bedliner-herculiner or rustoleum? Leaning toward rustoleum, says it is harder, less texture than herc., according to some dude reviewing them online.

Well, I'll let you know if I find out. Currently wood dyed and putting everything together, will finish topcoats later. Want to try er out. Using recycled denim + acoustic egg crate foam damping. Suggestions on amounts?

Rustoleum pro-enamel flat black. Looks good can be coated over if doesn't hold up.
