Fender 60th Anniversary Precision Bass

Hello to my Fender 60th Anniversary Precision Basser Friends!
Well, a good friend of mine played my Anniversary "P" (mine is the sunburst FSR for GC) and immediately fell totally in love with it!
HE WANTS ONE .
So I offered to help him find one.
Guess what - they're not as available as they used to be .
Over the last few months, I've found a lot of damaged ones, some advertised as "All Original Stuff". But some had different parts, most had no case candy, and most had different cases (some hard and some gig bags).
The ones I found worth buying, were between $1,200 and $1,600.
MSRP was $1,999 and usually sold from about $1,299 to $1,499.
In fact, there are currently 2 on Reverb.
One for $1,400 and the other for $1,650.
Neither have case candy or even the original SKB case (I've never understood how a guitar gets separated from it's case).
Anyway, the point of my rambling, is to tell my brothers and sisters that if you have one of these beautiful baby's, take really good care of it.
You own a Holly Grail!
If you find one - BUY IT!!!
Oh -Almost forgot - Plays Amazing!

There were only 1600 of these made.

Very similar- but not the same.
Lots of differences.
String through body bridge for one.
They say this bass was constructed with the best features this bass has had through the years.
Not to mention it sounds f_ _ k_n great.
This is also a collectors item.
I have never seen a review of regret for this bass from anyone that has one.
If you like the Dirnt version enjoy it.

Is your friend still looking or is he going to settle for another P bass?

I played the '51 reissue and I was knocked for a loop! Looking for one in LPB or I would've walked out of the store with it.

For me, it look like Maple board Am P with tele style pickguard and control plate.

He already found one in mint condition.
No case candy but had an OHSC.
Stole it for $935.

I have the Sunburst one. I prefer jazz basses but you're right, they sound incredible. It's a tone tank.

Here are some pics of mine. How it looked originally, and after making some changes. I had a vintage tint done to the neck so that it matches the inner amber color of the burst. I also added a multi-ply white/black/white/black pickguard, which I think sets it off nicely.
