Fender American Deluxe Jazz noise

I had the same issue with my Marcus miller bass. I switched the stock pups for bartolini dual coil jazz and problem fixed. No noise at all. Passive, active, highs cranked all the way up. Perfectly quiet. Still has the stock pre amp

With my deluxe, the noise are horrible when I'm close to my computer. Recording? Forget it!

But in a rehearsal or in live situation, almost no noise at all except if I stand very close to my amp.

I'll try to move the electronic to see if it help.

My string to string balance is not perfect. I may buy others pickups later.

This is almost certainly a shielding issue. There is shielding paint and copper foil. The paint is cheaper, but a little messier to apply to an assembled instrument. Copper foil is said to be better, but is more expensive. It's advantage is that it can be done in pieces (around existing routed wires) But whichever way you go, everything you shield needs to needs to be run to ground.
Also your cable might be an issue. There are different shielding schemes there too, and some are better than others.

I have a 2011 Fender American Deluxe Jazz (4 string) that I am having noise issues with. I have read several threads regarding noise issues with these models. I shielded the pick guard and it looks like it has shielding paint inside, but is still noisy. I can point the headstock in one position and make the noise tolerable, but if I move it at all it gets noisy again.

Does this seem like a shielding issue or a grounding issue? I assume it is not the single-coil, 60 cycle hum as they are the stacked noiseless N3 pickups. I am going to attempt to link a soundcloud clip of the noise. I am moving the headstock back and forth a couple of times to make the noise go in and out. Any thoughts....

For my personal tastes and TONE I strongly prefer the 97-99 Suhr electronics and the 99-2002 models American Deluxe models. Smooth sweet tone both Live and Recorded.
My 2 cents anyways.

I have a 2012 American Deluxe. Bought it used(ebay) and let me tell you the noise was ridiculous!! After searching on talk bass found a lot of options on fixing this problem and have tried them all.

Shielded the bass, still noise. I then tugged on a few of the wires from the preamp and noticed the bridge ground wire was DISCONNECTED!! Pulled the bridge off and put the ground wire thru. This helped a lot but there was still some noise.

The pickups are the N3 jazz pups. They sounded ok but a friend of mine has a 2014 AM Deluxe and put the Aguilar 4j-hc pups in his bass it
sounds amazing. So, I decided I would do the same thing. WOW these pups sound amazing!! The bass is dead quiet. Mind you i am using the stock 18v pre that the bass came with and it sounds great!!

So, the bridge ground wire not connected was a problem and I think a combination of the N3 pups and the 18v pre are not so good.
This is all just my opinion and I hope it helps someone with these problems. Can't say enough for the Aguilar 4j-hc pups.

I sold mine. I miss it because the neck and the feel was so great, but I didn't want to put more money on an (already) expensive bass.

When I took the pick guard and control plate off, I plugged the bass in and low and behold...... The intolerable noise was almost completely gone. I noticed it would come back based on how I put the control plate back in.

You've discovered that when shielded parts are not grounded, they make the problem worse as they act like antennas and broadcast the noise directly into your electronics. You must find a way to firmly connect them all to ground.
