For sale is my Fender American Professional Precision bass, in an olympic white finish, with a rosewood fretboard. I bought it brand new in February of this year (2019). The bass is in mint condition, and has only been played a handful of times. It looks brand new! I'm only selling it because I've finally ordered my dream bass, a USA Lakland 44-64. The Lakland is over $3,400, so I have to sell my Fender to help pay it off. This Fender American Pro Precision has some very good upgrades: The neck/frets have been PLEK'd (by Sweetwater), which was a $200 service. The stock pickup was upgraded to an Aguilar AG 4P-60, which is a $119 pickup. This is my all-time favorite P bass pickup! I'll still include the stock Fender V-Mod pickup in the case. I used the original Fender pickup covers on the Aguilar pickup, because I don't like that glaring Aguilar logo that they put on the front of their pickup covers. I installed an official Fender tortoise shell pickguard, which was $80. I'll still include the stock mint green pickguard in the case. I installed a stealth string retainer on the A-string tuning post, which was $18. I installed a Dunlop strap lock system, which was $14. That's a total of $431 in upgrades, which I paid even more for, due to shipping and tax on some of those items. The bass will come with the original hardshell case and all paperwork. This bass is also very light, at only 8.6 lbs. With all those upgrades, this Fender feels and sounds incredible!!! Fender's quality control doesn't always get it perfect every single time, but I can assure you that this particular bass is on the highest end of their production quality. The bass is also wearing a set of the beloved Thomastik-Infeld JF344 flatwound strings, which is another $60 in added value. I'll sell the bass for $1,300, shipped anywhere in the CONUS. The price is firm.
Does that Aguilar AG 4P-60 pickup give you the type of enhanced low end on the D and G strings and a little more brightness or "snap" on the E and A strings similar to what the Fender V-Mod pickups are advertised as doing? I am a P-Bass aficionado, and this bass has been calling my name ever since you first listed it. Thanks in advance for your response! Doug ("funkyjudge")
I didn’t even spend any time with the V-Mod, after reading many people on here who were complaining about them. I immediately had the Aguilar installed. The AG 4P-60 is the best sounding P bass pickup I’ve heard. It’s a very pure Precision tone. I still have the V-Mod though, which I’ll include in the case.
I’ve been playing this bass some more at home a little bit the past two weeks. The Plek’d neck and the Aguilar pickup put this bass above any other Fender I’ve ever played. It feels amazing, and sounds like a million bucks. If I didn’t have a USA Lakland P being built, I’d be more than happy to keep this one as my go-to P bass for good. There’s also not a scratch on it. It looks as if it just came out of the box for the first time.
Here are some more photos, to better show the color of the bass. It is a creamy shade of olympic white, which I really like.
