Fender American Standard or '63 AVRI Precision..Thoughts?

I'm a six-sting guitar player looking to purchase good quality Fender P, specifically, either the American Standard or the American Vintage '63.

I've played the AS and liked it a lot. Have not had a chance to see or play the AV - there are none in stock my nearby shops.

Thoughts?

If it were me, i would get the american standard. Neck adjustments are alot easier. I do love the AV '63 but the truss rod is a pain to get to.

I recently bought the American Standard with the Custom shop pickups love this bass.

I have both. First off- The '63's truss rod can easily be adjusted with a flathead of the right width (I can measure mine) so that it can be adjusted without taking neck or pickguard off. I adjust mine time to time as easily as any other "easy access" truss rod bass. The width and chunky-ness of the neck are different so make sure it works for you. I really love my AmStd but there is something to the AVRI that makes me pick it up 9 times out of 10. Either way- do pick up a set of EMG Geezer Butler pickups for whichever you choose. They're the bee's knees.

I do like the string-through-the-body option on the Standard. Perhaps that's the Tele player in me. I also like the "B" sized Neck. I used to own a Fender CS '59 Reissue P. It was 1.75" at the nut, .78" at the 1st. Didn't particularly care for the wide/shallow neck at the 1st. The '63 is spec'd: 1.74"/.82 at the 1st. Then again, it has that vintage vibe.
