Fender AV 75 vs. Nash JB-72

You know...back in 2002 Fender made a limited edition run of the 75RI in candy apple red with matching headstock. They called it the FSR 70's RI Jazz (in 4 different finishes), and had alder bodies. These FSR basses sound incredible, the stock pickups are awesome, I had a blue one.
Red ones pop up from time to time, I would look for one of those.

Funny you should mention those, I've had my eye out for a CAR model for some time. Haven't even seen one hit te used market and I scour eBay and here daily. If one shows up, I'll be on it for sure!

Those are really nice basses! My heart is kinda set on binding and vintage style tuners, though, which that one doesn't have.

Curious as to why you want Nitro... 70's Fenders are poly finished. I would also keep an eye out for one of those CAR '75 reissues. KILLER basses! I have wanted one for a long time.

I really liked the lake placid blue one I had, but I really wanted a sonic blue one. I've thought about refinning one if I end up with another lp blue one.

I prefer the way nitro ages. Poly doesn't look good with cracks and dents, but nitro ages tastefully. I know it's not perfect 70's specs, but I'm willing to budge a little.

you sure about that price? their list price is 2700$.

besides, it's not nitro finished (and neither is any real 70s bass).

They ended up with a new street price of $2000, give or take $100-$200 in either direction.

They went fast though and I think Fender has made all they are going to. It seems they even removed its product page from the official site.

The 50th Ann. are nitro, btw. Street price is around 2k if you can find them anymore. But I'm not terribly interested in those. I may just have a bass custom built to my specs. I'm thinking Ben Lindsey.
