Fender AVRI - strings

All -

I need to replace the strings on my '63 reissue precision bass. The current strings are the Fender 9050 flats that came with the bass and I want to purchase another set. What is the specific string that came with these basses and gauges? I can't remember if it was the 9050M or some other gauge.

9050L are the stock flatwounds that came with the '63.
I like the Fender strings, but my favourite ones are the Labella Low Tension Flats. The E-string of the Fender L set has a 100 gauge. 105 - as in the 9050M set - is a very thick gauge for flatwounds, not comparable to a 105 roundwound string.

BTW we have the same couple: I have a '64 Daphne Blue Jazz and just today I added a Sonic Blue '63 Precision (still has the 9050L flats).

Hey man - thanks so much for the reply. I needed to oil the fret board and wanted to add new strings when I did it. I've had the Fenders on for over 2 years so I couldn't remember the gauge, but wanted to retain the same set and feel of the guitar. I've just ordered the 9050L. The only other flats I've tried were Chromes and the Fenders just nail it with this bass. I'll have to give your recommendation a try some time.

I was actually torn between the Daphne Blue and the Sunburst when I ordered my '64 jazz. I'm pleased with what I got, but that Daphne sure is cool. I've never seen one beside the sonic blue P - its a lot more blue.

How do you like the Precision? Its become one of my all time favorites. With flats and the tone at 60% its magic.
