Fender backorder, American Deluxe Jazz V

Has anyone out there having back order issues with Fender for the American Deluxe Jazz V? I ordered one with the 3 tone sunburst from my local mom and pop, brick and mortar store back on December 2nd 2011. The owners are great people and run a good shop. I want to support the local business, so I ordered my Jazz V from them. They gave me a great deal, a couple hundred dollars less then the major on-line retailers or new on the bay and said they should get in about a month.

I check in with them about every two weeks and still nothing. They keep telling me Fender is telling them about a month to get it. Latest promise is end of March for a delivery.

Any one else having this issue with back orders from Fender? Is there anything I can do besides wait? They got my money back on December 2nd, so it's kinda hard to try to buy from someone else.

I cannot remember if I read it here or if someone told me at a music store, but the word is that Fender is really suffering from a labor shortage because they laid off so many people at the beginning of the recession, and now they don't have enough employees to meet their demand.

Thanks for reading and replies. I searched to find any other thread and couldn't find anything recent about back orders. There were a few from 2010 about noise issues and basses being returned causing a back order, but it seems that issue has cleared up.

I actually ordered a Fender jazz bass deluxe on march 17th and im not suppose to get it until April 17th but even that's up in the air I did my part by paying it in full I find it unacceptable that fender and GC would be so clueless. In these times the economy has hurt everyone and the big boys better wake up and smell the coffee because no one is to big to fail.

Well... there has been one Black and Maple American Standard sitting down at the Seattle GC for a few weeks now. It probably hasn't been played too much seeing as how the D string has been broken for a few weeks. A couple of weeks ago I stopped in to kill some time and picked this up, liked the neck and saw the broken string. I brought it to the counter and informed them of the broken string and they said their "tech" guy was not in today and that they would make a note of it. Well.. going on three weeks now. He must be on vacation.. Poor P5... someone will save you from GC...
