Fender Bassman 400 Head. Si?

You'd think that living in Austin Tx there'd be more decent used bass heads for sale. Not so much. Nonetheless this cat up in Cedar Park is selling a used Bassman 400 head. I'll go play it tonight, but have read mixed reviews on this head. Anyone here have any experience, good or bad, with playing live with this amp?

Similarly, there's a shortage of decent used 2X10s or 4x10s on the local market too. A couple of Hartkes with blown speakers and a Warwick, which I know nothing about.

Oh, just to be totally honest, there's also a GK MB200 locally. Same price, but half the power. Right now I think I need something at least 350w for some of the gigs I've been booked for. I could be wrong, but that's what I'm thinking.

At my regular gig I run bass > DI/Preamp > FOH. But not sure I can count on the house mix/tech at these other gigs.

I guess I should add that I really liked the tone of the Fender BXR 100 for punchy punk rawk so I picked up the BXR 400. It didn't quite have the punch (which could entirely be the cab selection) but it got me close. The crossover setup was nice but I don't think that helps you w/ the Bassman.
