This is Fenders attempt at re-creating "the Bass of Doom" and the finest fretless they offer. This thing definitely delivers. It is easily the best playing and sounding bass in my house, it simply sings. Relic job aside, the fit and finish is nothing short of spectacular. The neck pocket is extremely tight and the pickup routes are so tight that you can hear the suction "fwop" when you pull them out. I am pretty sure this is why the bass sings so well, the pickups can literally feel the wood vibrating.
I received the bass from another TBer last year. I re-used his pictures for the most part. The bass has had the neck pickup replaced. The previous owner thought it was a current 62 RI due to the beveled pole pieces. The bridge pickup is stock. I inquired with Fender about replacing the neck pickup but they said "no dice." I got the bass with the original case you see in the picture. It comes with the keys, extra ground strap and manuals. I did not receive the COA with the bass.
This was my first time having a bass professionally shielded, I took it to an ex-Dingwall employee. On a bass this expensive, I didn't feel like doing the work. He did a great job except he got a tiny bit of paint outside of each pickup cavity. I have included pictures of all cavities so you can see the job, as well as the mistakes. The ground strap was left there for show. The bass is as silent as single coils can get.
I am selling the bass because it is just too expensive for me. I do not feel comfortable gigging it and I am no studio musician. I just cannot justify keeping the bass. I only gigged the bass once and watched it like a hawk. This bass costs more than my car...
I am not interested in trades at this time. I am asking for $2900 CDN shipped UPS almost anywhere in North America. I would prefer to use interac e-transfer or good ol' fashioned cheque but I will take Paypal if dealing international. If somebody is near Saskatoon, I would much rather do a face-to-face transaction. I would be willing to make a drive.
If you have any questions please PM me to prevent clutter.
I will update with more pictures and confirmation from Fender on the S/N.
Thanks for looking!
