Fender Decals?

Ok this is going to make me sound like a total noob, but why do some Fender bass decals have a silver logo and some have black w/ gold outlining (and vice versa) I'm sure there is some significance to that.

Could someone please explain?

Thanks but I'm not looking to buy them, I just want to know if the difference between them mean anything specific.

They don't really mean anything other than when they were made and what model they were. I'm sure there's a guide somewhere that details it.

Yes, except most (but not all) MIM will say "made in mexico" right on the face.

Fender have constantly changed the design of their logo over the years. It is a good way of giving you an idea of the approx year that a bass was made in and can help spotting dodgy fakes on occasion.

More info on the logos used over the years can be found in The Fender Bass book by Tony Bacon, which is essential reading for Fender fans.
