Fender gurus please help me

I recently bought a Fender bass case, but I came across something that left me puzzled, and even more so when I looked it up online.

It has a square section below the accessory compartment, and it also has a curve, as if it were added so that another bass (not a Precision or a Jazz) could fit comfortably.
Perhaps a short-scale bass?I
t's not glued to the case; it has threads underneath that hold it in place.

Could someone please tell me anything that might give me some insight?

Thank you.

Hey @happy0203, what era did the seller claim the case is from?

There are a few things that point to it not being a Fender case, unfortunately. The big clue is that isn't a fender interior arrangement, even for a lefty. A few other points: Fender used white piping, your case looks like it has silver piping. Vintage Fender case interiors were brown, orange, or red, with no pile to the fabric. Black fuzz interiors first appeared in plastic molded cases in the late 70s. Another issue is with the logo the seller claims fell off the case. That logo is a late 60s-71 tail logo. Those logos are riveted onto the case lid and don't just fall off. Sometimes the letters get broken off, but the bottom plate of the logo would still be riveted to the lid. If the plate was removed, there would be holes in the case lid from the rivets. In the sellers pic, the logo looks like it's just placed on the lid, I don't see rivets or holes in the lid, I can see tolex through the logo plate holes for the rivets, though. My guess is the logo came off of an amp and the seller placed it on the lid for a blurry pic that they hoped would hide what I described above.

I hope you didn't pay too much or are able to return it so you can get a case that fits your Jazz.

The latch; as long as it can still release looks like you should be able to re-crimp/repair that existing one.
G&G does sell spare parts but changed the shape of the latches some years back, and the current parts are very different.

As for a case badge, I think whoever sold you the case lied to you, especially if it was merely glued on and fell off, the originals were riveted on.
