Fender Hot Rod or Marcus Miller? HELP

Ok so heres the thing. I have a marcus miller jazz bass. Love it..love the tone love everything. I play in a more heavier rock hard band at the moment where im not playin too much slap stuff. I mean not that it matters but it just kinda bugs me that i have a super funky bass thats meant to be thumpd pretty often and i dont that much. Ive always loved the fender hot bass but everywere i looked they were priced high but i have a chance to get one now and i just want to know...can you get good slap tone out of the Fender hot rod because i do like playin slap stuff? you think ill regret getting rid of the marcus miller? :hmm: thanks guys!

dude..its all in your head..just cause it says marcus miller on the headstock dosent mean you have to play his music. i saw a dude on tv the other night killing it in a rock band with a Marcus and you already said you love playing it rock out with what you have

Exactamundo. I plan on getting a Stingray some day--I absolutely suck at slap, but so what? That's not what I want it for.

What's a Fender Hot Rod, anyway? Are you talking about the old Hot Rod Precisions with a J pickup?

but...the american hot rods are really hard to come by right now...and the marcus miller is really not the expensive if i did want to grab another one....man..this is really tough. Im goin to play it tomorrow lets see how it sounds

I never really loved a Marcus Miller. A bunch of pop-punk bands in the last few years bassist we're buying them because they were nice and not crazy expensive. I never really understood it and stuck to american ps and js.

I have been looking for a hot rod for a while and almost bought one on ebay the other night...it sold for $750...but instead I bought an original 1974 precision for $1295 locally. If I found a hot rod down the road...maple neck and natural ash wood I'd go for it for sure!

I'd choose hot rod over a marcus any day!

Is the P-Plus the P-bass with a J pick-up but not a Jazz neck? Or did I just describe the Hot-Rod? I get confused...

As for the OP...if you like what you have rock it. Simple as that.
