Fender jazz 5 deluxe Mexican made

I like this bass but need to upgrade the pickups thinking lindy Fralins j set? would this be a good call ?
Also can I just buy the pickups or do I need to buy preamp too? If so what would you guys suggest any body have this bass what changes have you made to it ?

My problem with it is that it's not punching through the mix want more gain cleaner and warm is my preference

I also have 3 other basses stingray 5 , fender 73 p bass
And an old peavey foundation witch still rocks
Just want the jazz to give me the wow factor but never really has

Just put an obp3 in and never turn the bass up past the detent. Your sperm will thank you
