FENDER JAZZ BASS 24V 5 String...

I played one yesterday and was very impressed with the quality. The preamp was just ok, not great, but everything else about it was quite good. I can't say, for sure, that it will work for you because "metal" can mean anything. It would work great for alternative, rock, motown, hard rock, jazz, etc. Very versatile. But, I'm not sure if it will do the uber-deep sounding lows you would get from a Ibanez or Warwick bass, which is what you hear in a lot of modern metal. But, its a great playing bass and with an upgrade of the preamp, it could be incredible. Best of luck to you.

anyone tried out the FENDER JAZZ BASS 24V 5 STRING bass before cause im planning to buy one soon just because i got a very good offer from fender themselves... or any other alternatives in FENDER itself?? please lemme know... and by the way i usually play metal and alternative in case this information helps...

I've been trying to find somewhere that sells this as I want to try it myself. Toss me a recording when you get it.

How often do you play on the uper register with metal? I dont rely play metal so I dont know. If you dont realy need the extra frets you could probably save some money and get a decent jazz bass. If you sold on the 24 you should check out the used section on guitar centers website. I saw a couple for sale there. That way if you dont like it you can make more of your money back on the resale.

I have played this a number of times after I found it at my local store... I was VERY impressed by this bass and I planned on buying this until I played a vintage P at the same store... 2 different sounds, but limited wallet budget... gotta pick one!

The neck was fast and, although spaced wide, the string spacing felt great. The pre-amp sounded pretty good to me (read: versatile) but I play through a Fender amp now, so there might be some kind of bass to amp jive goin on there... :)

well we do sometimes play dream theatre so thats where the 24 comes in handy + i love using unusual sounds in some of our songs so the highs are really handy. the only reason im buying this bass is because my friend gets 75% discount on all fender products (dont ask me how ;P) otherwise i love using schecter and i already use a elite 5 although i was planning to buy another schecter.
Problem is i live in india and choices are few... im not really sure if guitar centre will deliver me secondhand basses with free shipping ;P there are lots of ibanezes here though but well too common so i shy away hehehe...

I have bought a 24V fender jazz bass.
I'm very happy with it. Very high standard for less than 1000$.
I realy like it.
I also own a 5strings GODIN bass. Made in Canada.
Very very good quality at little price. The GODIN active bass is the best you can get at at the lower price.

I own the Fender Jazz 24 v % String, and I love it! It has great sound and is easy to play, and is at a reasonably low price. My only problem is that the action is a little low (but can be adjusted at a guitar shop), and that I can't figure out what the knobs do or what the switch does! Could someone help me?

(I know, this looks nothing like the bass at all...)

ive played one and am actaully buying one tomorrow (currently oen the squier equevelant) and i play straight doom with it it has the in my opinion one of the best feeling fender necks for a 5 string. its an all around amazing bass for whatever style really as long as your amps up to it
