Haven't been to Carlsbad lately but in most of the LA area masks are required indoors only if you're not vaxed. Lately I've just been entering pretty much everywhere without a mask, the establishment usually has disposable masks they will offer if you need one. If you're going to a specific site you can always call ahead to see what their requirements are.
