Thunderbird Club

Here's how I described it to a recent non-Talkbass Thunderbird convert just starting on his bass playing journey. A Thunderbird (original/VP) played fingerstyle has the definition and tone of a good Pbass played with a pick. Sort of like a good sounding Jazz but with mids. But it has lows, mids and highs. Played with a pick, it has all that on steroids which is a great tone, but not suitable for every thing a cover band bassist needs. So I wield Thunderthings supplemented by a TC Spark, Phat Phuk, etc as needed.

Just my take after 44 years of playing and tone searching.

Ken regularly swims with sharks.
Just did today, actually. They're the best.

Motorcycles? I had a '74 Kawasaki Z1 about twenty five years ago that I had traded a car for in Burlington, VT where I was living at that time. One nice summer day I decided to drive back to Worcester to visit my parents so I dressed in what I thought were appropriately clothing, T shirt, shorts and a helmet because it was so nice out and I was driving south. It's about a 3 1/2- 4 hour drive normally. When I got about halfway home it started getting a little chilly, then it started to drizzle, then I started to getting really cold and wet and had to drive about 15 mph down the breakdown lane I was so cold. I don't remember how long it took me but as I pulled into my former little town of Millbury I got a rear flat and had to walk he last couple of miles to their house. Not a pleasant memory.

That Z1...........oh yeah!!!

Wait until we start talking about motorcycles. Happens every couple of weeks.

Besides changing the bland, boring, :rollno: pickguard that so does not go with that color?

....no, not really.
Never played an actual Jazz bass before, only p-basses, so however that results will determine its fate going forward.
If it seems like something i might like to play occasionally, I won't sell it right away, probably.

But that pickguard!
Yes, that would have to go for me as well.
