Fender Jazz Bass Preamp Problems

So during this fine quarantine, I decided I would finish one of my partscaster projects. I have a set of dimarzio model j's and a Fender jazz bass preamp from the stratosphere on reverb. (NEW Active Jazz Bass LOADED CONTROL PLATE KNOBS POTS for Fender J Bass Chrome | The STRATosphere | Reverb) The body I have has a battery route for just one 9v. So with that i just cut one of the battery clips off and rewired it with just the one (from what I understand, 18v just gives more headroom). Here's were is gets weird. While switched into passive, everything works fine: volume tone and blend. When in active, the signal is gone. I've always had problems with preamp installation, probably due to lack of experience. The weirdest part is when I removed the battery. Even with it gone, the passive signal was still there along with the controls still working. I have no idea what to do now. All my connections are good. The only connections I'm unsure about are the ones inside the circuit board box, which is sealed with what I assume is paraffin wax. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
