Fender Jazz Bass Serial Number Quirks

I have a 2017 Jazz Bass. Natural body, maple neck. Love the thing. The serial number on the neck points to a white bass on the Fender serial number database. But the body does have a stamp saying it’s natural. Both the neck and body are from 2017.

So what gives? Is this common? A quirk of a bass that’s almost a decade old? Is Fender wrong?

I have been told the Fender serial # database is not right. I came across this on a MIM Strat - when I looked it up, it was a different color body. If your body is natural and has a great finish, guessing that it was factory.

If both neck and body date to 2017 and the body is stamped natural,I’d trust the bass in your hands over the database. Totally normal Fender quirk, not a red flag at all.

Someone could have very well bought a loaded body and a neck from the Stratosphere on ebay, and just chose matching dates.

So the neck would be the maple one off the Olympic white one listed in the database, and the body is just a random one? I suppose yes........

Theoretically yeah I guess. I heard from the shop that it came from a Fender Dealer though so that’s unlikely they’d be playing the eBay game. Did they make their own bass from parts? If so why?
