I got my second JBS today. It looks pretty similar, but the pickups are so much hotter. I was planning to get them re-wired, but I like what I hear! Rock n roll!

Happy she's fixed now but this non-matching screw is yet another "character mark"...OK, so. Repair question. Well, two questions, really.
1) See photo below. I am a total neophyte when it comes to parts spec--is this bridge original to the bass or did the previous owner put this on? I've not seen a bridge like it on any other bass I've got my hands on.
I'm looking at my JBS that I recently acquired. It is really yellow, and I think I'd like to repaint it to its original color.
Is Oly White the closest color?

I'd suggest you embrace that. Only certain finishes turn that way, and the JBS in white pearl is one of them. It's the clearcoat that ages and yellows. Same thing happens with 70's Olympic white. It looks great IMO.

I bought my 87 new, from Guitar Showcase in SJ, and it also has this bridge setup as well.is this bridge original to the bass or did the previous owner put this on?
I had a white one with a black neck. I bought it in Austin at Ray Hennig's in 1985 or 1986, and kept it until 1989. At that time in my life, that seemed like a long time.
Someone had replaced the stock pickups in mine with an EMG P and a Seymour Duncan J.
Here's somewhat embarrassing proof. Yes, those very observant of you, that is Grammy-winning Country and Tejano star Rick Trevino. We were in the same band in high school.

Rick Trevino looks a lot like Max Headroom......

YAY! I think I just snagged one. Finally! I've been waiting for a long time to get one in the right color (white, but I'd settle for black) at the right price. Every time I see one it's already been sold.
I say I "think" I snagged it because I've bought them before, only to find out that it's sold to someone else. We'll see in a few hours I guess.
I've got a black one if you can't find the white that you're after.YAY! I think I just snagged one. Finally! I've been waiting for a long time to get one in the right color (white, but I'd settle for black) at the right price. Every time I see one it's already been sold.
