Fender Jazz FSR - Fake or legit?

Hi everyone, could you please help me decide if it's legit? I'd like to buy it but it's far and cannot go to check it in real life.

It should be a FSR burgundy mist. The Fender serial search site returns no result.

Edit: the owner said he replaced the knobs with stacked ones that are more period-correct, but has the original ones.

I've had one of these since 2005, my no. 1 bass and the only one I would never sell if I could keep only one bass. Aside from the pearloid pickguard, having been drilled for a bridge cover and the controls having been swapped for stack knobs (a mod I've contemplated doing myself a couple of times!) this looks original and perfectly legit to me, as far as I can tell. Even the figuring of the fingerboard wood looks eerily similar to that on mine! Nice, lush piece of rosewood. My serial no also starts with MZ2062. It's a regular Classic series (precursor to the current Vintera) 60's jazz bass, in a special finish.

One thing I witnessed in a music store a few years ago……..
They received a brand new USA Fender special anniversary jazz bass and the neck was defective.
The store received a brand new neck from Fender at no charge and installed it themselves.
Doing so, the bass remains under warranty but the serial numbers don’t match.

As noted above not all serial numbers work on their tool. It’s good for MIA starting in the 90s or early aughts and other manufacturing locations after like 2010. Outside of that it can be spotty.

The standard fender formats are pretty easy to decode though. MZ2 = MIM, 2002.

This bass is an early 2000’s Fender FSR Burgundy Mist jazz bass. Op notes that the VVT plate has been replaced with concentric pots. Absolutely nothing fake here and as a matter of fact this bass is quite collectible. OP should jump on this if the price is right.

OP stated that seller claims adding the Concentric Pot control plate makes it "more period correct". Again I ask how that makes sense on a 200x MIM Jazz Bass? I would think that plate is period correct on a '60's bass or a 90's 'AVRI' of a 60's bass or similar Vintage Reissue configured stock with Concentric Pots. The bass in question NEVER had Concentric Pots as an OEM configuration. You missed my point. I don't think or even care if the bass is fake. I wouldn't buy it. My point was to call out to the OP that the seller may be embellishing his / her description to make the bass seem worth more than it may be or perhaps throwing jargon around to confuse the OP. Also - implying that this bass is 'Quite Collectible' is the same chatter I feel the OP should avoid when approaching this bass or any other 'future collectible'.

Seller has the original control plate and knobs. Maybe they’re not aware of when Fender started offering Burgundy Mist and/or whether or not 1960/1961 jazzes were available in that finish. Either way, if OP moved forward with the purchase, they’ll probably be happy with it.

Thanks! Yes, I'd like to buy it because I was in the market for a jazz bass and I like the color very much.

The price is 800 eur non negotiable.
