So lets say I bought this bass from musiciansfriend...

Would it be the 08' model? I'm just asking becuse when I played one at GC it had a different neckplate. Is it just an old picture? But it looks like the tuners are the new ones. Are those new neck plates only on the deluxe series?

The HMV bridge, thinner undercoat and case as described are unique to the '08s. I think the finishes and pickguard combinations are unique to '08 as well but not positive.

Yes, those finishes and pickguard combos are unique to the '08s, as are the bridge and tuners shown in the pictures. And likely the case too, I didn't go all the way to the end of the picture gallery.

I don't see anything unusual about the neckplate, it's the same one they've been using for years on American Series/American Standards/American Standard Series.

Seriously, just call them or send an email and keep proof that they said that they carry '08s.

If you don't get an '08, then you have proof that they ripped you off.

Im sure they are 08's for some reason though I remember playing a 5 string jazz that had a different neckplate on it. Instead of the bottom edge being a squared off edge it was curved. Maybe Im just crazy though.

yea whatever you do don't get the previous model, the 08 models are a huge improvement on the older models, unless you an get a real 80s one.
