This is my 1997 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Todd Krause 4 string Jazz Bass. Bought from the original owner.
Absolutely RARE, this is the 30th instrument that Todd made as a Master Builder, and is completely built by him.
(Todd Krause is one of Fender's Senior Master Builders. He regularly builds instruments for Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Robbie Robertson, David Gilmour, and Jeff Beck.)
This instrument is the finest bass I have ever seen/heard/played from Fender.
The tone is absolutely unbelievable and must be heard in person to be fully understood. The playability is absolutely perfect, smooth, and like butter with no buzzing or fretting out and nice low action. Truss rod functions perfectly. Currently strung with Dunlop .40 - .100 Nickel strings.
A very, very special instrument. Guaranteed to be an authentic Todd Krause Masterbuilt Jazz Bass. I believe this bass was made when the Master Builders wound their own pickups. As far as I know, the instrument is completely stock.
The tone is totally special, and "Holy Grail" level.
Neck is in great shape with light wear. Frets show moderate play wear as pictured, but have lots of life left. Headstock has some chips and dings as pictured. Tuners have some very slight oxidizing. Body has some light scratches that can only really be seen in the light. One chip on treble side of the neck pocket. (Pictured.)
