Fender mexican Basses

There was a thread ( with pics ) yesterday on the quality of mim Jazz Fenders not saying they're bad just be careful especially if buying on line. I had one a couple of years ago with no problems and when I traded it in (for a mm sub 5) got a very decent trade in price for it.

That was about a 6 y/o MIM used bass sold on Ebay, and it had a few kinks - some simple to fix and some not so.

My contention is that any time one buys something by sight and some seller's statements and you don't actually get to hold, fondle and actually play a bass, the you get what you deserve - which is prolly lies and fraud.

I would never buy a bass from a person posting the merits of a bass in a website.

Even though I said that - I bought some p'ups off a person here on TB who treated me very nicely and sent me exactly what he represented. He was truthful and we had quite a nice conversation before/during and after the sale. Still do from time to time. Nice guy.

On the other hand - I view things bought on Ebay and CL as pigs in a poke and you are on your own.

Painting MIM Fenders as bad from that bad experience is not talking in all truthfulness.

There's a turkey somewhere in all manufactured basses and some people get them and instead of taking it back to Fender (used? stolen? bought on Ebay or CL?) they just resell it and let the next owner sort it out.

All apples are fruit, but not all fruit is/are apples.
