Fender MIJ/CIJ Basses

Which Fender basses in the current lineup are manufactured in Japan? Also, is there a source for purchasing an instrument made for the Japanese market such as those on the Ishibashi website? I'm particularly interested in the MIJ fretless Jazz Bass. Any info will be appreciated.:help:

Currently MIJ are of course the Geddy Lee Jazz as well as the the Marcus Miller 4 string.

Try Ishibashi. Just email them about model and pricing. Easy to deal with.

I checked out Ishibashi's website and it turns out that they can no longer sell new Fenders to US customers. However, they can sell used and they have a nice Fretless Jazz like the one I'm interested in. And, quite frankly, most of that stuff looks new.

I requested info on the Fretless Jazz and their reply was:

"When a certain reply does not arrive within 3 day from our shop according to a certain trouble, I should ask you to be able to urge unreservedly."

Obviously, I will attempt to urge unreservedly.

I would email Ishibashi about buying one from them directly. I bought a new Fender from them about 5 months ago. I know there was a brief period last year when they stopped selling them to the US, but that ended as far as I know.

The Ishibashi web site is hard to understand, and damn funny to read, so take everything with a grain of salt on it. I still chuckle over the Res Porrel guitar and Electricity Bass.

You have to be a supporting member to do that.

I've moved the mentioned post to the proper forum, but so everyone is aware, non-supporting members are welcome to post wanted ads in the Wanteds classifieds- just no sale/trade ads.

They are a good bunch of people to deal with. A few months ago I purchased a nice 1957 Fender P-bass from them, paid them on Tuesday by paypal, and I had my bass in my hands Friday afternoon and I'm in western NY. It was packaged perfectly too, took me 20 minutes to get it out of it's double box and all the bubble wrap, lol.
