Fender Mustang CIJ - Strings question

Hi guys,

I have recently bought a 2nd hand CIJ Fender Mustang (circa 2006, I think).
The strings go through the body.

I want to get some new flatwound strings on it, but not sure what length I need. Will short-scale, medium-scale, or long-scale be best? I have heard that short-scale strings will be too short for this bass.... is that correct?

I am currently using Chromes on my P-Bass, so would like to get something similar for my Mustang, but I don't want to waste money on buying the wrong set.

I used these Medium scale chromes on my MIJ Mustang:
45-100 Regular Light, Medium Scale, XL Chromes Flat Wound Bass Guitar Strings | ECB81M | D'Addario
They fit right and sounded good.

[WI Short Scaler]

I used these Medium scale chromes on my MIJ Mustang:

They fit right and sounded good.

I also used these on a Squier Mustang body with string through bridge, worked well. Good strings.
